About Journey & Joy
"Receive the children in reverence, educate them in love, and send them forth in freedom." ~ Rudolf Steiner
Mission:
My mission is to guide children on their unique journey of learning by creating a warm, supportive environment where curiosity leads the way. Establishing a strong foundation through play-based experiences, children will grow in confidence, discover their strengths, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
Philosophy:
At Journey & Joy, I believe that children are naturally curious. They are capable and eager to learn. I believe that every child deserves to be seen, heard, valued, and loved for exactly who they are and not for who someone else thinks they should be.
My approach is play-based, child-led, and inspired by the philosophies of Reggio Emilia, Montessori, and Waldorf education. I use an emergent curriculum, which means I pay close attention to children's interests, questions, and experiences and use them to guide meaningful learning opportunities and projects.
I believe children learn best when they are given the time and space to explore, create, move, imagine, and discover at their own pace. Rather than directing every step of the learning process, I view the teacher as a guide who walks alongside the child - observing, listening, encouraging, and helping to create experiences that spark curiosity and wonder. Guiding how to learn, not forcing what to learn.
Above all, I strive to create a nurturing environment filled with love, kindness, and respect, where children feel safe to be themselves, explore their unique gifts, and experience the joy of learning. I believe there are endless roads to learning and every child's journey deserves to be honored and celebrated.
